Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my coconut oil turn solid?
Coconut oil naturally solidifies below 24°C and melts above it. This is completely normal and does not affect quality or nutritional value. Simply warm the jar in your hands or place it in warm water to liquefy it. Solidification is actually a sign of purity — adulterated oils often don't solidify properly.
What is the difference between virgin coconut oil and refined coconut oil?
Virgin (cold pressed) coconut oil is extracted from fresh coconut without heat or chemicals, retaining its natural MCTs, lauric acid, Vitamin E, and fresh coconut aroma. Refined coconut oil is extracted from dried coconut (copra) using heat and chemicals, resulting in a neutral-smelling oil with significantly fewer nutrients.
Can I use this oil for cooking at high temperatures?
Coconut oil has a smoke point of approximately 177°C for virgin oil. It is ideal for medium-heat cooking, sautéing, and baking. For high-heat deep frying, we recommend our cold pressed groundnut or mustard oil which have higher smoke points.
Is cold pressed coconut oil good for hair?
Yes. Coconut oil is one of the few oils that can penetrate the hair shaft (rather than just coating it), reducing protein loss and strengthening hair from within. Apply to hair and scalp, leave for at least 30 minutes or overnight, then wash off with a mild shampoo.
Can I use this oil on my face?
Yes, for most skin types. Coconut oil is deeply moisturising and has antimicrobial properties. However, it is comedogenic (can clog pores) for some people with acne-prone or oily skin. Do a patch test before applying to your face.
What is the shelf life?
Our Cold Pressed Coconut Oil has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture. Store in a cool, dry place and keep the container tightly sealed after use.
